A Joplin resident has pleaded guilty to a fraud scheme, the Springfield News-Leader reports.
Maliq Ray, 21, admitted to wire fraud in which he sought to deposit fake checks.
He recruited people online in the scheme, only to keep their portion of the proceeds himself, according to court records.
