Joplin City Council voted to send a decision on new property taxes to voters.
Voters on Aug. 2 will weigh in on whether to approve taxes on Joplin property owners in order to better pay police officers and firefighters.
Joplin officials have said $9 million is needed for wage hikes, as well as pension and retirement options.
