Job Center relocates north-side office

For the second time in two years, the Missouri Job Center has relocated its north-side Springfield office.

The Job Center began operating Monday from its new home in the O’Reilly Center for Hope at 1518 E. Dale St., according to a news release. The office previously was at The Fairbanks, 1126 N. Broadway Ave., for the past two years.

The move is the third for the north-side office, which opened six years ago in the CoxHealth Medical Tower at 1443 N. Robberson Ave., according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting.

“The move to the O’Reilly Center for Hope will allow us to provide resources that are needed by area residents and ensure we have a presence in north Springfield, where the demand for our services is greater,” said Sally Payne, workforce development director for the city of Springfield, in the release. “We see many advantages in being located in a building with so many other community partners where we can provide referrals and leverage resources to serve the client in the best way possible.”

Job Center spokesperson Katherine Trombetta said the organization has one full-time employee in the new office’s 136-square-foot space on the center’s second floor. She said the Job Center signed a one-year lease for an undisclosed rate with building owner Community Partnership of the Ozarks Inc.

The O’Reilly Center for Hope, a roughly $3 million community hub housed in the former Pepperdine Elementary School, is a CPO project. It opened in 2020, according to past SBJ reporting. At the center, over a dozen agencies provide resources and services to people in poverty or without housing, as well as those in need of mental health care. On-site tenants include Burrell Behavioral Health, Isabel’s House and Ozarks Area Community Action Corp.

“Our lease with The Fairbanks was up and we were presented with the opportunity to relocate, so we made the move,” Trombetta said via email. “The Fairbanks is still a great partner of ours as we continue to work on community initiatives together.”
