JCPenney yesterday announced plans to shutter 27 stores this year.
Company officials cited a "real estate monetization opportunity" for closing the 18 full-line stores and nine ancillary home and furniture locations.
During fiscal year 2018, the company posted net sales of $11.7 billion, a 7.1 percent drop.
