Jamaican Patty Co. LLC is rolling out a new franchising unit.
The company, owned by Du’Sean Howard, launched franchising this month, Jamaican Patty Co. officials said via email.
"Franchising was our goal from day one. We are happy we were able to achieve it," the officials said. "The goal is to offer a unique food option on a national level."
Jamaican Patty Co. is working with Miami, Florida-based Franchise Creator, with plans to initially grow in Missouri, and officials say the company is licensed to franchise in 35 states. Howard formed Jamaican Patty Franchise LLC with the Missouri secretary of state's office in April 2024.
The Jamaican Patty Co. officials said franchises start at $61,950, with 5% royalties.
Jamaican Patty Co. has offered Jamaican cuisine in Springfield since 2018, with its franchise offering to focus on eight varieties of Jamaican patties and the option for a storefront or food truck. The local menu offerings also include jerk chicken, curry chicken, curry goat, country style pork and Rasta pasta. The company has two brick-and-mortar restaurants at 3439 S. Campbell Ave. and 301 Park Central West, as well as a roving food truck.
