Jack Henry tops local firms on Forbes list

Jack Henry & Associates Inc. (Nasdaq: JKHY) was the top local company out of six that placed on Forbes' 2020 list of the best employers by state.

The Monett-based financial software firm ranked No. 11 in Missouri, according to the list published Aug. 24. Forbes partnered with market research company Statista to survey 80,000 Americans working for businesses with at least 500 employees. For the surveys conducted on a rolling basis from October 2019 to May 2020, respondents were asked about companies' compensation competitiveness, safety of work environment, opportunities for advancement and other categories.

The companies with Springfield-area headquarters on the list are:
•    Jack Henry & Associates, No. 11;
•    CoxHealth, No. 21;
•    O’Reilly Automotive Inc. (Nasdaq: ORLY), No. 36;
•    Missouri State University, No. 44; and
•    Pyramid Foods, No. 54;
•    Bass Pro Shops, No. 68.

The Forbes list does not disclose companies’ individual rankings on the survey questions.

No. 1 in Missouri is Columbia-based Veterans United, followed by No. 2 Fort Zumwalt School District, located in O'Fallon, and No. 3 Hallmark Cards, located in Kansas City, according to the list.

On last year’s list, Jack Henry ranked No. 2 statewide, ahead of CoxHealth at No. 18, O'Reilly Automotive at No. 23 and Pyramid Foods at No. 77, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting.
