It is evident we have people that do not have the capacity to serve in their current positions within the city. With the majority of Springfields hotel rooms located off north Glenstone it is concerning to see the lack of foresight and planning within our city departments. The Springfield park board currently owns a massive swath of property right off the interstate currently known as Payne Stewart Golf Course. How in the world this not been marked as a MAJOR development opportunity to bring millions of new tax dollars into the city, and more in particular to North Springfield, is extremely concerning. North Springfield had a more diverse retail scene in 1980 than it does today. I guess the city would rather have an unused golf course taking up a massive parcel of land right off the busiest intersection into our city. It's time to clean up North Glenstone, and move the golf course across the interstate to allow for retail and food options North Springfield (and traveling patrons on the interstate) deserves.
I think the bigger issue is that when you are entering Springfield you see the "Springfield Next 6 Exits." Then you get some advertising for some of our highlights. Get MODOT to drop the next 6 exits, and then at each exit have advertising and highlights of the great things in Springfield. "Next 6 Exits" sounds like you better stop quickly because you are just passing through.
