Missouri State University has appointed an interim athletics director as the school begins the search for Kyle Moats' successor.
The university announced in a news release yesterday that Senior Associate Director of Athletics Casey Hunt has taken on the top role in the department in an interim capacity. Incoming MSU President Richard “Biff” Williams named Brent Dunn, vice president for university advancement, as head of the search committee for the school's next athletics director.
"Hunt has been a part of Missouri State athletics' leadership team for 21 years and also holds the role of senior woman administrator for the department," MSU officials said in the release. "Her vast experience in all areas of the department's daily operations also includes responsibilities as the primary liaison with human resources."
The search committee, which is expected to include university administrators, coaches, student-athletes and community members, is being formed shortly after Moats took a job as vice president and director of athletics at Eastern Kentucky University. Moats, who starts July 1 at EKU, has been MSU's athletics director since 2009.
Williams is overseeing the athletics department proceedings in advance of starting as president on July 1, according to the release.
