The annual Hungerthon fundraiser brought in record donations to Ozarks Food Harvest over the weekend.
A partnership with Alice 95.5, the radio fundraiser that started Friday and ended this morning collected over $132,000, the highest amount in the event's 16-year history, according to a news release.
Donations go toward Ozarks Food Harvest's weekend backpack program, which distributes some 55,000 bags containing 333,000 meals annually so children can eat during weekends away from school.
Hosted by Alice 95.5 emcees Kevin Howard and Liz Delany in the parking lot of the Tower Theater, 1856 S. Glenstone Ave., the fundraising event exceeded its goal of $125,000 and last year's figure of $128,901, according to the release.
The money raised would provide 435 at-risk children in the Ozarks with bags of food during the school year. The bags include meals for two breakfasts, two lunches, two dinners and two snacks and drinks.[[In-content Ad]]
