The Hollister R-V School District is preparing for a superintendent leadership transition at the end of the academic year.
Brian Wilson is slated to retire from the role on June 30, 2025, when he'll be succeeded by Sean Woods, who currently is assistant superintendent of district operations, according to a news release issued late last week. Wilson previously informed the district of his plans to retire.
"As I reflect on my career, I feel incredibly blessed to have served in a community that values education and prioritizes the well-being of its students," Wilson said in the release. "The passion and dedication of our faculty and staff have been nothing short of inspiring."
With more than 30 years of public education experience, Wilson has been superintendent of Hollister since 2014.
Woods has worked at the Hollister district since 2005, according to its website. He became an administrator in 2007 and took on his current role in 2014.
The release additionally announced the planned June 2025 retirement of Kim Connell, the district's communications director. Starting with the district in 2012 as a kindergarten teacher, Connell is one of the honorees of Springfield Business Journal's 2024 class of Most Influential Women.
“Dr. Wilson and Mrs. Connell have dedicated their careers to ensuring the success and well-being of our students and staff. Their commitment to our district’s mission has positioned Hollister as a leader in both education and community engagement," Woods said in the release. "We will carry forward their vision, ensuring a seamless transition and continued focus on innovation, growth and the core values that define the Hollister family.”
