Hobby Lobby relocates southeast Springfield store

Posted online

Hobby Lobby has completed the relocation of its southeast Springfield store.

The Oklahoma City-based craft and home decor store moved March 14 to 3075 S. Glenstone Ave., less than a half-mile away from its old home at 1535 E. Battlefield Road, according to a news release.

“We are always striving to better serve our Springfield customers," said Kelly Black, director of advertising, in the release. "This move will heighten their service and shopping experience."

The Hobby Lobby store now is located in a former Kmart building at Glenstone and Battlefield, a property owned by Warren Davis Properties LLC. The Kmart store closed in 2017, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.

Mardel Christian & Education, a Hobby Lobby-affiliated company, also moved to the property from its former space near Battlefield Mall.

Gary Demster serves as store manager for the 95,000-square-foot Hobby Lobby, according to the release.

Greene County assessor records show Hobby Lobby and Mardel previously operated out of roughly 95,000 square feet on East Battlefield Road. Hobby Lobby first opened in Springfield in 1991, according to SBJ archives.

Hobby Lobby also has a northwest Springfield store at 1701 W. Kearney St.
