TRU by Hilton

TRU by Hilton is a new concept from the hotel chain. “Hilton wanted to bring an affordable midscale hotel in beautiful, modern surroundings,” says Yulia Whittington, general manager.

“They saw a gap in that midscale range and wanted to have an affordable hotel that still felt welcoming, upbeat and appealing.” The first eye catching element at TRU by Hilton is its design. Vibrant colors inside and out with a modern aesthetic make the hotel stand out from its neighbors.

A hallmark of the TRU flag is efficiency, but the amenities are not. “Every square inch is used efficiently,” says Whittington. There are wall-mounted large screen televisions in each room and according to Whittington the bathrooms, which are larger and feature a sleek, modern design, are a guest favorite.

Location was key for TRU by Hilton as well. Being close to college campuses and downtown was a must, and while the downtown Springfield location hosts families of college students, business travelers are frequent guests. “We’ve really seen a huge cross-section of people stay with us,” says Whittington. “We’ve had really good feedback. It’s such a different concept and vibe. People love it.”

In addition to amenities like free parking and an upscale fitness center, featuring a barre and TRX straps, TRU by Hilton has an indoor swimming pool, business center, free Wi-Fi and complimentary breakfast. The large lobby has a pool table and games and is currently set up for easy social distancing.

Springfield’s TRU by Hilton location, which opened its doors November 2019, is the second TRU by Hilton in Missouri, with a St. Charles location being the first.
