Harmony House iCare fundraiser exceeds $100K

Harmony House's annual iCare fundraising event has brought in more than $100,000.

Nonprofit spokesperson Jackie Langdon said some fundraisers are continuing this week for the campaign, and several participants still are planning to send in checks from their events that raised money for domestic violence services and awareness provided by Harmony House. A total for the event is expected later this month.

The October campaign utilizes stickers signifying a black eye. It's raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for Harmony House since its inception in 2015, and the nonprofit has worked with organizations nationwide who are seeking to run their own iCare events, according to past reporting.

Nabholz Construction Corp., which raised more than $4,300, and McDonald's, at more than $4,000, are among the top businesses that have made pledges for iCare this year, Langdon said.

Separately, Harmony House this morning announced a $20,000 donation from The Mary Kay Foundation in support of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Langdon noted the donation is not counted toward the iCare total.

"This gift will help Harmony House provide hundreds of domestic violence survivors with a comfortable, supportive stay in our shelter so they can begin the healing process," Harmony House Executive Director Lisa Farmer said in the release. "It will also help our team provide outreach services and education to break the cycle of domestic violence in our community."
