Dallas-based Greyhound Lines Inc. is downsizing its Springfield operations and selling a building constructed two decades ago.
The transportation company announced it would relocate to Arna’s Food Mart, a northwest Springfield convenience store at 4912 W. Chestnut Expressway, according to a news release.
A marketing firm spokesperson speaking on behalf of Greyhound said the company is selling its bus depot and office at 2425 E. Kearney St. and will begin operating a valet stand inside Arna's.
"By making the move to a large convenience store, accessibly located right off I-44, the new stop will ensure passengers have access to a waiting area, facilities and hot food," officials said in the release.
The spokesperson said SVN/Rankin Co. was hired to list the property. A listing at SVNRankinCo.com indicates the asking price for the roughly 6,400-square-foot property is $695,000. Greyhound constructed the facility in 2000, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.
Starting June 24, Greyhound will operate eight bus schedules in Springfield, including two for Jefferson Lines, the spokesperson said.
