Greene County wages were up in the second quarter, but the pace of growth was near the bottom nationwide, according to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data released this week.
Average weekly wages in Greene County were $1,064 during the second quarter. That's up 2.1% from a year earlier and ranks the county at No. 323 in percentage growth across the country, according to a news release. The BLS measures the 369 largest U.S. counties for the report.
Here are Missouri's largest counties, in order of second-quarter percent increase and wage growth rank nationally:
• Boone, $1,100, up 5.9%, No. 27
• St. Louis City (which operates as its own county), $1,436, up 4.9%, No. 83
• St. Charles, $1,115, up 3.8%, No. 196
• Clay, $1,191, up 2.4%, No. 307
• Greene, $1,064, up 2.1%, No. 323
• Jackson, $1,305, up 1.8%, No. 331
• St. Louis, $1,392, up 1.8%, No. 331
Among the largest U.S. counties, 259 had year-over-year increases in average weekly wages during the second quarter, according to the release.
