The Greene County Commission on Friday signed and adopted the municipality's 2025 budget that totals nearly $285 million.

Planned expenditures in the 2025 budget are $284.6 million, which is $1,084 lower than the 2024 budget, according to a news release.

“Working with all officeholders and department heads, Greene County has again adopted a fiscally sound budget using a process that is transparent and open to the public,” Presiding Commissioner Bob Dixon said in the release, noting expenditures can be tracked on the county's website. “County citizens can be proud of the process used and the concern shown for the strategic and wise use of limited resources at every turn."

With a focus on employee retention and core public services, the 2025 budget includes the following expenditures:
• 3% cost-of-living adjustment for all county employees and a 1.5% mid-year merit step for eligible employees
• the addition of three data collectors in the assessor's office
• a new bailiff, staff attorney and assistant director for juvenile detention and equipment for several courts-based offices
