The Greene County Circuit Court has new leadership in place.
A special session of the 31st Judicial Circuit Court en Banc was called by Presiding Judge Michael Cordonnier on March 22 to select his successor, according to a news release issued this morning.
Jerry Harmison Jr., who last year was promoted to circuit judge from associate circuit judge, was chosen to take over for Cordonnier as presiding judge. Cordonnier previously announced his retirement from the bench.
Harmison is slated to serve for the remainder of the role's current term and then a two-year term starting Jan. 1, 2024, according to the release. He started as presiding judge on March 24.
Additionally, the 31st Circuit Court en Banc met March 27 and chose Kyle Kanable as family court commissioner, according to the release.
Kanable, who operates the Law Office of Kyle Kanable, is succeeding Judge Regi Martin, who died in February.
"It is a compliment to our Bar Association that we had so many qualified applicants," Harmison said in the release. "We look forward to having him join our team of judicial officers.”
