Great Southern Bancorp Inc. (Nasdaq: GSBC) led the list of local deposits for the fourth consecutive year.
The Great Southern Bank operator was No. 1 in the Springfield metropolitan statistical area in deposits held as of June 30, according to data released this morning by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.
The Springfield-based company's MSA deposits were $2.2 billion, representing a 16.7% market share.
The five banks at the top of the list held their positions from last year, according to the FDIC data.
Kansas City-based Commerce Bancshares Inc. (Nasdaq: CBSH) was No. 2, with $1.5 billion in deposits as of June 30. That represented a market share of 11.1%.
For years, Great Southern and Commerce Bank alternated spots at the top, but the former company has held the No. 1 rank since 2017, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting.
The Republic School District is on track to open its Intermediate School for fifth- and sixth-grade students for the 2025-26 academic year.
