The franchisees who operate Great Clips Inc.'s Springfield stores have temporarily closed the salons.
A statement provided by Minneapolis-based Great Clips indicated the Springfield salons yesterday "received repeated threats."
"To protect the safety of everyone, the local franchisees made the decision to temporarily close salons in the Springfield area," the statement reads. "They are working closely with law enforcement officials as the officials conduct a thorough investigation of these threats."
The threats were not detailed in the statement. A LinkedIn profile indicates the local franchisee is CM Clips LLC.
The temporary closures and threats follow recent announcements by the Springfield-Greene County Health Department that two hairstylists worked with symptoms of COVID-19 at the 1864 S. Glenstone Ave. location of Great Clips in the Plaza Shopping Center. The stylists together had 140 clients while they were symptomatic.
Great Clips additionally operates Springfield stores at 3305 S. Campbell Ave. and 1953 E. Independence St., according to its website.
The Republic School District is on track to open its Intermediate School for fifth- and sixth-grade students for the 2025-26 academic year.
