Golfing entertainment venture coming to Branson Landing

Posted online

A new attraction centered around golf is about to tee off at Branson Landing.

MetaGolf LLC is set for a June 9 grand opening at 1217 Branson Landing Blvd., kicking off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Branson/Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce and Convention & Visitors Bureau, said Zach Fletcher, who co-owns the new venture with his wife, Justyna. Next month’s event will be preceded by a multiday soft opening that is invitation only, he said.

Fletcher said the indoor golf facility takes inspiration from entertainment venues such as BigShots Golf, which opened a Springfield location in 2021. However, the Branson concept is on a much smaller scale, he said, filling 3,000 square feet in space formerly occupied by Pop Culture Gourmet Popcorn, which relocated in the shopping center. MetaGolf is located near Bass Pro Shops and the newly opened Bricktown Brewery.

“We’ve been wanting to do this for years,” Fletcher said of he and his wife’s first-time ownership venture, adding he’s been an avid golfer since he was a child and grew up playing the sport with his dad.

MetaGolf provides a trio of golf simulator bays that single or group players can rent for nine- or 18-hole games. The simulator features multisurface hitting mats, an automatic tee and a swing plate that has a moving floor that creates different angles, such as downhill and uphill lies, for players to hit the ball. The venue also will sell refreshments, such as packaged snacks and bottled and canned beverages, including sodas, seltzers and beers, Fletcher said. A full bar is planned at a later date, he added.

He estimated startup costs of $500,000, mostly connected to the equipment for the bays, which include 4K projectors and software that features a virtual caddy and LED putting guide. Fletcher declined to disclose the manufacturer’s name, adding he wanted to keep that under wraps until after the facility opens.

“It’s very realistic,” he said, adding MetaGolf will provide access to over 200 golf courses and games, including some designed for children. “The bays themselves, these aren’t the typical you throw a screen up and a few padded walls and you’re good to go. This stuff is about as high-end as you can get.”

A couple of pool tables will be available for free play while players wait to access the bays, which accommodate up to six people. Playing equipment from Cleveland Golf and Srixon will be available for use by players, Fletcher said, adding he plans to also have clubs soon from companies such as Callaway, Ping and Taylor Made.

Bay rental is $55 per hour up until 5 p.m. Monday-Thursday and $65 after that time. The cost is $65 per hour Friday-Sunday.

“That is not per person but per bay,” he said. “So, if you were to have a group of six people, they can come in for $65.”

Fletcher said he and his wife signed a five-year lease for an undisclosed rate with Branson Landing owner HCW Development Co. LLC. It’s a professional pivot for Fletcher, who said he previously worked for 12 years in marketing roles in Oregon and Nebraska before the couple and their two children moved last year to Branson to be closer to his family.

At Branson Landing, MetaGolf will join another sports-related attraction, Andy B’s Bowl Social, which opened in 2018.
