The Ozarks Technical Community College Board of Trustees this week is scheduled to vote on the project cost for the Center for Workforce and Student Success, including approval of a general contractor bid.
Submitted construction bids from four companies range $35.8 million to $39.7 million, with the total project cost now estimated at $48.5 million, according to the board's Aug. 14 agenda.
College staff are requesting approval of general contractor DeWitt & Associates Inc.'s $35.8 million bid for the project. The other companies that submitted bids are Crossland Construction Co. Inc., at $36.8 million, Killian Construction Co., at $37.1 million, and Branco Enterprises Inc., at $39.7 million.
Along with the general contractor bid, the $48.5 million project cost would comprise $288,750 in construction administration services from nForm Architecture LLC and $78,750 for contract documents and bidding/negotiation services from nForm, according to the board agenda. The architecture firm has worked with OTC for the past two years on the plans for the Center for Workforce and Student Success.
The state budget signed in June by Gov. Mike Parson includes $46 million for construction of the center, Springfield Business Journal previously reported.
The previous cost estimate for the three-story, 100,000-square-foot building on OTC’s Springfield campus, at the corner of West Chestnut Expressway and North Sherman Avenue, was $60 million, according to past reporting.
