Galloway Village coffee shop shutters

Posted online

While many businesses have temporarily closed due to the coronavirus, a coffee shop in Galloway Village has shuttered for good.

Springtown Coffee Co. closed March 14, less than a year after opening at 3541 S. Lone Pine Ave. The company announced the closure in a Facebook post.

"We have truly cherished this time we have been allowed to serve our Galloway community and connect with so many wonderful individuals," the post reads. "From our owners and employees, we will miss you all so dearly."

Officials with the shop could not be reached for comment by deadline.

Husband-and-wife owners Justin and Allicyn Hollis had sought to tap into a missing option in the eclectic Galloway Village area. Springtown Coffee opened as Galloway Village's sole coffee shop in April 2019, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting.

Two other couples were minority owners in the shop: Justin’s brother Brennan Hollis and wife, Megan, and 4 by 4 Brewing Co. LLC co-owners Derek and Danielle Shimeall, according to past reporting. 4 by 4 Brewing is adjacent to Springtown Coffee.

The 50-seat, 900-square-foot coffee shop operated in a multitenant center, with the top floor occupied by health care business 2B Well LLC.
