Project description: Center city Springfield is getting a new hotel property. The four-story, 98-room Tru by Hilton is designed to appeal to millennials in the midscale pricing category, officials say. It’s a newer brand for the Hilton flag – only 90 properties currently exist and at least 30 more are in the works, according to Tru3.Hilton.com. Those nearest to Springfield are in St. Charles; Little Rock, Arkansas; and Lawrence, Kansas. Known for its apartment complex developments, franchisee Bryan Properties has developed and operated hotels for more than 20 years, according to past Springfield Business Journal coverage. Current properties include two Hampton Inns in Branson. Six houses were demolished to make way for the center city project. According to the Greene County assessor, the landowner is now 500 Elm Street LLC, which was organized with the state in July 2018.
Utah-based gourmet cookie chain Crumbl Cookies opened its first Springfield shop; interior design business Branson Upstaging LLC relocated; and Lauren Ashley Dance Center LLC added a second location.
