Project description: The Moon City Lofts apartment building is rising near the intersection of North Eastgate Avenue and East Division Street, just up the road from Costco and Menards. According to Chelsey Bunch of property manager Entrust Property Solutions LLC, the 51 micro-efficiency units, including both studio and one-bedroom apartments, feature luxury finishes in a small footprint. Studios range 333-383 square feet, while one-bedroom units range 362-515 square feet. Moon City will have a leasing office and lounge area, fitness center, security gate and private ground-floor entry. Its website offers a lesson in local history as it explains the origin of its name, once the moniker of Springfield’s New Town, the site of the first rail depot in the city, located on Commercial Street. The website says the mayor had once declared, “They would build a railroad to the moon before they do through Springfield!”
Utah-based gourmet cookie chain Crumbl Cookies opened its first Springfield shop; interior design business Branson Upstaging LLC relocated; and Lauren Ashley Dance Center LLC added a second location.
