Project description: For those who like foam with their coffee, McBee’s Coffee N Carwash soon will be an option on Kearney Street, just east of Kansas Expressway. The enterprise combines a drive-thru car wash with a coffee shop, where customers can buy a single wash and cup of coffee or purchase a membership. Options for washes range from Basic Joe (a no-frills presoak, wash, rinse and dry priced at $10 for a single wash or $19.99 unlimited) to the Grand Cappuccino (the works, with clear coat protectant, tire shine, wheel brightener and wax, plus a dog wash and coffee, $25 single, $44.99 unlimited). The tunnel wash system features natural light, intended to keep customers from feeling claustrophobic, according to Ashley Smith, McBee’s preconstruction project manager. It runs on a conveyor belt system that provides a complete wash in under three minutes. McBee’s coffee is sourced from Haiti through the nonprofit Brace for Impact, which provides food, clothing and schooling for Haitian children.
