Project description: Chick-fil-A Inc. spokeswoman Brenda Morrow said the restaurant at Sunshine Street and Campbell Avenue is one of 116 expected to open in the U.S. in 2015. Operating 1,950 restaurants in 42 states, the fast-food chain recorded nearly $6 billion in 2014 sales, Morrow said. She said Chick-fil-A parent company CFA Properties Inc. is building the restaurant under a land lease with a Cox family trust. After purchasing the Rib Crib and Bud’s Custom Muffler Shop buildings, contractors demolished them to make way for Springfield’s fourth Chick-fil-A. Brian Heberlie, a retired U.S. Air Force officer, purchased the franchise rights. According to the agreement, the franchisee plans to lease the building from Chick-fil-A, pay $10,000 up front and 15 percent of gross sales, and split monthly profits.
