Project description: Chad Overman, of Pocahontas, Arkansas, is very hands-on when it comes to building his Rogersville general store. The owner of Overman Buildings, which specializes in portable structures, is building his third American Made General Store on the eastern outskirts of Rogersville, at the intersection of Redbud Street and Chicory Road. The other two stores are in Pocahontas and Brookland, Arkansas. “I will probably build the first five or six stores and then pass the buck,” Overman said of the construction process. “I have seven crews that build buildings, but we are too busy to send a crew to build this store. I’ve been trying to hire local help to assist me.” He added that he constructs wood trusses and roll-forms the metal for the exterior of the building. The store is set to open around mid-October. As the name implies, American Made General Store features only American-made products, such as home items, clothing, tools, foods and Amish-made goods. The store will also feature a deli and sandwich shop.
