Convoy of Hope improved its position in the Top 100 on Forbes' annual list of the nation's top charitable nonprofits.
The Springfield-based humanitarian nonprofit ranked No. 75, according to a news release issued yesterday. The Forbes list, which was published last month, ranks charities based on their most recently available private donations reported in IRS forms, audited financial statements, annual reports or survey forms.
For the fiscal year that ended Dec. 31, 2019, Convoy of Hope’s private donations were $193 million. Total revenue was $195 million, and the nonprofit's fundraising efficiency was 92%, according to Forbes. Additionally, Convoy of Hope's charitable commitment for the fiscal year was 89%.
Convoy of Hope ranked No. 82 on the 2019 Forbes list of the largest charities in the United States, according to the release.
While Convoy of Hope is the only Springfield-based nonprofit on the latest Forbes list, several have local chapters. No. 1 is United Way Worldwide, with $3.6 billion in private donations.
Convoy of Hope ranked No. 4 on Springfield Business Journal's 2020 list of the area's largest nonprofits, based on employment, 156 locally, as of Feb. 3, 2020. Currently, Convoy of Hope is developing a 230,000-square-foot distribution center on around 135 acres in Republic.
