FDA to ban Red No. 3 dye

The Food and Drug Administration is banning artificial food coloring Red No. 3.

The dye, which is used in products from candy to cold medicine, has been linked to cancer, Bloomberg reports.

The ban for food products starts Jan. 15, 2027. Drugmakers have until Jan. 18, 2028, to reformulate products that use Red No. 3.
