A Springfield event that draws up to 10,000 guests annually has been called off in 2021.
The Greater Springfield Garage Sale & Marketplace will not be held April 17-18 as planned, due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to a news release. It's now scheduled Jan. 22-23, 2022, during its traditional winter time slot.
Tony Veneziano, spokesperson with the company behind the annual event, Bonnier Events, said the garage sale's typical attendance, dependent on weather, is 6,000 to 10,000.
Held at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds, event vendors offer various goods, including antiques and clothing.
Connected to Watkins Elementary School is a new storm shelter now under construction.
