Drury University is distributing $1.2 million in federal stimulus funds directly to students.
The university received the funds as part of the $88 billion authorized to support students and educational institutions nationwide from the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act approved in December, according to a news release.
"Students who receive this aid will see between $200 and $1,000 based on enrollment and financial need as determined by the FAFSA," said Becky Ahrens, director of financial aid for Drury, in the release.
Drury in the coming weeks is preparing to distribute more funds to students, as $40 billion in relief for colleges and universities was included in the American Rescue Plan passed by Congress earlier this month, according to the release.
Drury plans to release the funds as details become available from the federal government.
The most recent direct payment distribution comes after the university in April 2020 secured $1.2 million in emergency aid for students, according to the release.
The Republic School District is on track to open its Intermediate School for fifth- and sixth-grade students for the 2025-26 academic year.
