A medical marijuana business grew its Springfield presence with a new dispensary in the Plaza Shopping Center.
Shango, the dba for Mo Retail Products Group Inc., opened yesterday at 1868 S. Glenstone Ave., according to a news release. It's the second medical marijuana shop in Springfield for Shango, which debuted at 3903 S. Campbell Ave. in July.
“Our goal is to make our Shango Plaza Shopping Center location our flagship dispensary in the city and raise the standard for excellence throughout Missouri," Shango CEO Brandon Rexroad said in the release.
Shango has local ownership in Nancy Price, president and CEO of Shango Missouri, according to the release. Springfield Business Journal previously reported Price, a Springfield attorney, was a co-owner in the company in a partnership with Las Vegas-based Shango Premium Cannabis.
SBJ first reported on the plans for Shango's Springfield store plans in early 2020. At the time, Price said the 4,000-square-foot Plaza Shopping Center store could cost up to $450,000 at build-out.
Shango, which also has a dispensary in Joplin, plans to open a cannabis manufacturing facility in Stockton later this year, according to the release.
Utah-based gourmet cookie chain Crumbl Cookies opened its first Springfield shop; interior design business Branson Upstaging LLC relocated; and Lauren Ashley Dance Center LLC added a second location.
