Daredevils gin expands statewide

Posted online

The Ozark Mountain Daredevils' signature gin is expanding statewide.

St. Louis-based Major Brands is starting an immediate focus on launching Ozark Dry Gin in Columbia, Kansas City and St. Louis, said Dwight Glenn, manager of the Springfield-based Southern rock and country band. The deal with Major Brands, announced in 2020, largely has been marketed in southwest Missouri to date, officials say.

"Over 250 cases shipped this week to Major Brands distribution centers in St. Louis and Kansas City," Glenn said via email. "The Major Brands sales team will be calling on retail stores and restaurants immediately to hopefully find placement."

The Daredevils' Springfield-based EE Lawson Distillery has sold more than 5,000 bottles since its formation in 2019, according to the release.

With the expansion statewide, the band hopes to double or triple sales, Glenn said. This year marks the band's 50th anniversary, so concerts statewide would factor in, he added.

More than 2,400 bottles sold last year, Glenn said, noting retailers such as Brown Derby and Macadoodles carry the product, as well as local restaurants.

"We know we have an excellent product," Glenn said. "We trust that when people try it, they will be back for more."
