Posted online

The high-end home market is off to a strong start in 2022.

For the monthly editorial series Curb Appeal, Springfield Business Journal compiled a list of 15 single-family homes within city limits that hit the market last month with asking prices of $500,000 or more. The January figure was up from seven in December and 10 in November.

Collectively, the homes listed last month are seeking $10.6 million in their asking prices.

The highest priced home of the month, at $1.2 million, is a southeast Springfield residence with five bedrooms and bathrooms apiece. Located in Highland Springs, the home spans more than 7,100 square feet, according to the Southern Missouri Regional MLS.

The latest data from the Greater Springfield Board of Realtors show the average sale price of a home sold in its coverage area in December was $262,459. Those homes spent an average 24 days on the market.

The Missouri Realtors organization reported in a news release that 8,059 residential properties sold statewide last month. The average price was $263,574, an 11.7% increase from a year earlier.

For the year, sales volumes topped $25 billion, with nearly 100,000 homes sold, according to the organization.
