Curb Appeal: 11 high-end homes hit market

Posted online

The high-end home market in Springfield last month calmed slightly after a summer of myriad listings.

For the monthly editorial series Curb Appeal, Springfield Business Journal compiled a list of 11 single-family homes within city limits that hit the market last month with asking prices of $500,000 or more. The September number was down from 13 listings in August and 12 listings in July. June was the hottest of the summer, with 18 listings.

The owners of the 11 homes listed in September collectively are seeking nearly $8.9 million. The highest-priced home of the month is a southeast Springfield residence that, with an optional pool, is asking $1.5 million.

The most recent Springfield-area and Missouri data on home listings is from August.

In the Greater Springfield Board of Realtors' coverage area, the average sales price in August was $258,346. Homes were on the market for an average of 20 days, and there were 1.8 months of inventory as of August.

Missouri Realtors data released this morning show the average price of homes sold in August was $262,780. That's a 10.1% increase from a year earlier, according to a news release.
