Community Partnership of the Ozarks Inc. has purchased the former headquarters building of Legal Services of Southern Missouri.
The 809 N. Campbell Ave. building changed ownership in July, said Melody Shuck, CPO's vice president of communications. The purchase price was $1.7 million, Shuck said, noting city of Springfield-allocated American Rescue Plan Act funds were utilized.
LSSM recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new headquarters at 3130 S. Delaware Ave., according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting.
At the 10,000-square-foot North Campbell Avenue building, located just north of Chestnut Expressway near downtown Springfield, CPO plans to use the facility for homelessness services.
"The day center will connect those who are unsheltered with specialized case managers promoting mental health, health care, social, legal and housing services in a safe and supportive environment using best-practice, trauma-informed care," Shuck said via email.
The center's tentative opening date is spring 2025, she said.
Under construction beside the existing Republic branch of the Springfield-Greene County Library District – which remains in operation throughout the project – is a new building that will double the size of the original, according to library officials.
