CoxHealth’s Meyer Center reopening to members

CoxHealth’s flagship medical fitness center is reopening to members after two closures amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The Meyer Center is slated to return June 14 with services and hours to be adjusted gradually based on indicators identified by CoxHealth's infection prevention team, according to a news release.

"We are paying very close attention to the number of COVID-19 cases in our area and have a formula to determine when to reopen additional services based on that data and other indicators in the community," said Chris Flouer, director of CoxHealth Fitness Centers, in the release. "We’re really looking forward to The Meyer Center’s reopening, as we know our members have really missed it, and we’ve missed seeing them."

The fitness center located on National Avenue near Cox South first closed in March 2020 to reduce the spread of COVID-19. It reopened starting in June last year before another closure in August, when the health care system began offering school tutoring for employees’ children out of the center.

CoxHealth canceled The Meyer Center's memberships when the facility closed in August, according to the release. Individuals who had memberships at that time have been contacted for renewal purposes.
