CoxHealth is expanding on an existing partnership with Springfield Public Schools.
The Springfield-based health care system is adding a dedicated Care Mobile to serve SPS students starting with the 2022-23 academic year, according to a news release. The pediatric clinic on wheels represents an initiative from CoxHealth, Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and corporate sponsors.
“We’ve supported Springfield Public Schools with our other Care Mobile unit for the past year, but being able to provide a unit specific to these students is really special,” said Shannon Jones, Children’s Miracle Network care coordinator at CoxHealth, in the release. “This will allow the other Care Mobile unit to focus on additional needs across 26 counties and increase access to care for children across the Ozarks.”
The new Care Mobile dedicated to SPS will be free to students. It will provide services such as hearing and vision screenings, immunization and flu clinics, sports physicals and well child exams, officials say.
For most, winter offers a break from gardening. But there’s plenty of action at Amanda Belle’s Farm on East Primrose Street, a Springfield Community Gardens project at the edge of the Cox Medical Center South campus.
