Construction is scheduled to start soon on a roughly $4.7 million project along Division Street.
Hartman and Co. is the general contractor for the project, which calls on a complete rebuilding of Division between National and Glenstone avenues, according to a news release. The process is slated to begin next week.
“Any full closures of the roadway should be limited to nighttime hours so we can keep daytime traffic flowing as much as possible along this busy east-west corridor,” said Andy Haase, project manager with the city, in the release. “Future traffic impacts will be shared with the public as soon as details are available.”
Approved by voters in the 2019 quarter-cent capital sales tax renewal, the project includes new pavement, curbs and gutters, stormwater drainage improvements, a new sidewalk and multiuse path, and gas and water utility renewals through a cost-share agreement with City Utilities of Springfield. Funding also comes from the city's eighth-cent transportation sales tax.
The project is expected to be completed in a year, according to the release.
