Two high-ranking executives at Mercy Springfield Communities are exiting the health care system.

Dr. Robert Cavagnol, president of Mercy Clinic Springfield, already left, while Justin Davison, vice president of finance, accepted a job elsewhere in Missouri, according to a statement provided by Mercy spokeswoman Sonya Kullmann.

The statement did not give a reason for Cavagnol’s exit, only saying he’s “no longer employed by Mercy.”

“Rob Heen, Mercy Clinic chief operating officer, will lead clinic operations for Springfield Communities while we formalize the transition plan,” the statement reads.

Reached this morning, Cavagnol declined to give the reason behind his exit.

“I’d say I’m no longer with them. I would concur with their statement,” he said, noting he’s considering his options for next career steps.

Cavagnol this month changed his LinkedIn profile to no longer list Mercy as his employer after nearly 12 years with the health care provider. No other employer is listed. A former attending surgeon for the U.S. Navy, Cavagnol’s LinkedIn profile states he’s a “general surgeon passionate about providing outstanding patient care.”

This summer, Cavagnol represented Mercy in an interview for the health system’s honor in Springfield Business Journal’s Economic Impact Awards this summer.

Davison accepted the chief financial officer job at St. Francis Healthcare in Cape Girardeau, “after an outstanding 13 years at Mercy,” the statement reads. His last day at Mercy is Nov. 8.
