CJW Transportation Consultants is celebrating 15 years in April 2020 and the multiservice civil engineering firm continues to see growth with contracts in multiple cities and states across the Midwest. “When we started out, our focus was specifically transportation engineering and we worked to develop a great reputation within that market. As more opportunities presented themselves, we expanded the services we offer to include surveying, civil site, municipal sewer, municipal storm water, and construction observation services,” says CEO and owner C. Jay Wynn.

CJW doesn’t only do civil site work however. The firm also works with municipal agencies to improve their communities. CJW is currently working with the City of Springfield to design intersection improvements at Campbell Avenue and Walnut Lawn and was responsible for the planning and design of improvements that connected Central Street to Pythian Street through a roundabout near the OTC campus.

CJW is also working on construction of a 50+ mile gas pipeline for Summit Natural Gas. “We’ve met and exceeded their expectations so much that they’re now giving us more work,” says Wynn. “All I ever wanted was to keep clients happy so that they keep coming back to us.”

“We like to be a one-stop shop,” says Wynn. “No project is too large or too small.”

“We really run the whole gamut of civil engineering by offering surveying, mapping, transportation and traffic engineering, civil site design, general civil engineering, and construction observation services” says Dane Seiler, president.

“Our main focus is to help municipalities and private developers see their projects come to fruition,” says Seiler. “Helping to improve the communities we work with is important to us.”

Recently CJW worked with the city of Clinton to help identify projects and project costs in order to help garner support for a proposed transportation sales tax increase. When that tax increase passed, CJW was there to assist the city in the implementation of the projects. The last two of these projects will be completed this year. “We helped them find specific projects to put in front of the voters,” says Seiler. “It was rewarding to work with them from concept to completion and help them get the most value from their investment.
