Project description: A three-story addition is underway on the south side of Citizens Memorial Hospital. The building will be a cast-in-place concrete structure with exterior skin that includes a combination of brick, curtainwall/storefront and aluminum wall panels. The addition will provide a new main entrance with drop-off canopy, emergency department, private medical/surgical patient rooms, an intensive care unit suite and a labor and delivery birthing suite with a dedicated C-section room. Officials project the addition will be completed in January 2026, with renovations to be complete by December of that year. The project architect is HMN Architects Inc. (Overland Park, Kansas) with landscape architect frankZdesign LLC, and engineers are Own Inc., civil; Bob D. Campbell & Co. (Kansas City), structural; Brack & Associates Inc. (Lenexa, Kansas), mechanical, electrical and plumbing; and Palmerton & Parrish Inc., geotechnical.
