Chase to open east-side Springfield branch

Posted online

Chase Bank is adding its second Springfield branch after debuting its first in the city earlier this year.

Jim Erickson, Chase’s market director for Springfield, said via email that the company is renovating a building that housed a recently shuttered KFC restaurant for its new branch at 2237 E. Sunshine St.

"We know that to serve the diverse needs of our Springfield customers we need to be present in the community, so we’re opening new branches where it makes sense, both in neighborhoods that are growing and ones where there aren’t enough branches," Erickson said. "Our goal is to have the right branches in the right communities to serve the financial needs of our diverse customers."

The timeline goal for the branch at Sunshine and Enterprise Avenue is fourth-quarter 2025, Erickson said, declining to disclose project costs.

A Greene County recorder filing shows a May warranty deed between current property owner 2237 E Sunshine LLC and DLG-KFC LLC. The building on the site is roughly 2,900 square feet, according to its Greene County assessor listing.

Chase's first Springfield branch, at 3341 S. Glenstone Ave. in front of Glenstone Marketplace, opened in August.
