Community Foundation of the Ozarks Inc. today announced a new $300,000 grant program.
Up to $30,000 per proposal is available for child care centers through the Ozarks Early Childhood Support Grant Program, according to a news release.
"Every child deserves a strong start in life," said CFO board Chair Robin Morgan, who will lead the grant selection committee, in the release. “The goal of this new grant opportunity is to prepare kids to succeed in school, support working parents and help child care centers attract enough qualified staff members to provide high-quality programs.”
The funds are earmarked for three purposes: subsidizing child care costs for families as parents secure jobs; covering the cost gap for families as they seek state subsidies; and increasing child care staffing or raising wages for employees.
The program is open to nonprofit child care centers serving ages 6 weeks to pre-K and also to faith-based programs in CFO's 58-county service area, according to the release. Funds will be provided in areas of need based on poverty guidelines and other factors.
The application deadline is Sept. 30.
