Carvana puts down roots in Springfield

Posted online

Phoenix-based Carvana Co. (NYSE: CVNA) is now serving the Springfield market in earnest.

The company, which delivers used cars purchased on its e-commerce platform directly to customers, set up a hub in Springfield, said Veronica Cardenas, a Carvana spokesperson. While Springfield-area residents could use Carvana's service before, the opening of a hub means quicker service, even as soon as the next day. Previously, service to Springfield could take several more days.

“We’ve steadily been increasing our presence in Missouri since launching our first market in the state in 2017, and we are pleased to now offer as-soon-as-next-day vehicle delivery to even more customers,” said Ernie Garcia, Carvana founder and CEO, in the release. “We are confident Springfield-area residents will welcome the ease and convenience."

Cardenas said the hub – at an undisclosed location inside city limits with a handful of employees – is not customer-facing, but rather serves as the last stop before a vehicle is delivered to a customer in the area. She said Carvana's website has an inventory of 45,000 cars nationwide. Carvana also offers a service through which customers can trade in or sell their vehicles.

Founded in 2012, Carvana provides as-soon-as-next-day delivery in more than 300 markets in the United States, according to the release.
