Care to Learn expands to cover all of Greene County

Posted online

Springfield-based nonprofit Care to Learn has officially expanded to cover all of Greene County with the latest chapter opening in Strafford, according to a news release.

The addition comes two months after new CEO Krystal Simon came on board.

“We know that student needs are widespread, but they’re also very distinct to each community," Simon said in the release. "We’re so grateful these students can now access emergent health, hunger and hygiene services, and that the Strafford community is coming together to meet these needs.”

Care to Learn works with school districts and other community partners to identify students who need assistance and help them in a confidential manner.

Since its founding in 2008, Care to Learn has met more than 1 million health, hunger and hygiene needs for children. It currently serves 38 school districts and more than 100,000 students throughout Missouri.

Simon joined the nonprofit in July, bringing nearly five years of experience at the Barnabas Foundation Inc., most recently as chief operating officer.
