Woodland Hills, California-based Silgan Containers LLC disclosed to the Missouri Department of Economic Development plans to shutter a southwest Missouri plant.
In a July 29 Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act notice filed with the state, Silgan Containers pointed to an Oct. 4 closure date for the plant at 305 W. North St. in Mount Vernon.
“As a result of this action, approximately 20 positions will be eliminated,” the filing reads.
However, the filing only lists 14 active hourly employees. Affected employees include can-line mechanics, inspectors, electricians and an office clerk, according to the filing.
Silgan Containers is a manufacturer of metal food containers. Its only other Missouri facility is in St. Joseph, according to its website.
Company officials could not be reached for comment by deadline about the plant closure near Interstate 44.
Utah-based gourmet cookie chain Crumbl Cookies opened its first Springfield shop; interior design business Branson Upstaging LLC relocated; and Lauren Ashley Dance Center LLC added a second location.
