The Branson Public Schools Board of Education has selected the district’s next superintendent as its current leader prepares to retire.
Nate Moore, currently the district's assistant superintendent and chief financial officer, is slated to start as superintendent on July 1, according to a news release. Moore will succeed Brad Swofford, who is retiring from the district this summer after serving as superintendent since 2016 and working as a district employee for his entire education career since 1995.
“Through a thorough review and interview process, Dr. Moore stood out as the top candidate, chosen for his exceptional leadership skills and unwavering commitment to our district’s mission," said Sonja Myer, school board president, in the release. "We are confident in his ability to build on the strong foundation Dr. Swofford has established over the past 30 years."
The board interviewed three finalists for the superintendent role, said district spokesperson Tori Palumbo. The salary range for the job is $200,000-$215,000.
Prior to joining Branson Public Schools, Moore led the Mansfield R-IV School District as superintendent 2012-20. With 25 years of public education experience, Moore in 2024 was named a trustee for the Missouri Public School Retirement System/Public Education Employees Retirement System, among other civic achievements.
The board hired search firm EGL Association in the search process. The district's website lists more than 4,500 students and over 650 employees.
