Western Taney County Fire Protection District received a $200,250 grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The fire district was one of nine fire services in Missouri to split the $741,190 in grant money to be used for operations and safety.
Education
College of the Ozarks was named eighth in the nation on Kaplan Newsweek’s list of “choosy schools.” C of O was listed among institutions such as Julliard, Harvard and Yale. Qualifications for making the list are determined by the acceptance rate of the college and its yield rate. The college has a 12.5 percent acceptance rate and an 83.3 percent yield rate.

Branson’s Spa Chateau, part of the Chateau on the Lake Resort Spa & Convention Center, will be profiled in “Best Spas USA, The Guidebook to Luxury Resort, Hotel and Destination Spas.” Spa Chateau is among 40 spas in 17 states featured in both the 264-page, full-color guidebook and the accompanying Web site, www.bestspasusa.com. It is the only Missouri spa to be recognized.
