BP Builders, Kenmar awarded MSU construction contracts

Posted online

The Missouri State University Board of Governors this week approved $1.6 million worth of construction bids, the majority going toward a renovation of the school’s student union.

MSU President Clif Smart said the board awarded a $1.3 million project to BP Builders LLC and a $298,031 contract to Kenmar Construction Inc. Both companies submitted the lowest bids on their respective projects, according to the board's April 21 meeting agenda.

BP Builders was selected to renovate the first floor of the university's Robert W. Plaster Student Union, specifically the Multicultural Resource Center and Office of Student Engagement. Bales Construction Co. Inc., Carson-Mitchell Inc., MSI Constructors and Branco Enterprises Inc. also submitted bids for the project.

The project calls for 10,800 square feet in renovations. The Multicultural Resource Center will be moved to the existing Office of Student Engagement space, and the OSE will be relocated to the east end of the student union's gaming center, according to the board agenda.

The project is slated for completion by the fall semester this year.

Kenmar Construction was tapped to replace the gymnasium floor for three basketball courts at the Bill R. Foster and Family Recreation Center, according to the agenda.

The project also is scheduled to wrap up by the fall semester.
